Late in May the National Minority Supplier Development Council, Inc (NMSDC) held its minority business leadership awards dinner dance. It was a gala affair! Many, many supplier diversity leaders and other execs were there from companies representing the chairman's circle, patrons and sponsors of the council.
NMSDC was founded in 1972 to expand business opportunities for minority-owned suppliers by linking them with purchasers in the public and private sectors. Today NMSDC has a national office in New York, NY and thirty-nine regional councils nationwide. Through them, more than 15,000 MBEs have been certified and matched with 3,500 member corporations that want to purchase their goods and services .
This year's leadership awards honored Peter J. Davoren, chair, president and CEO of the Turner Corp, one of the handful of companies in NMSDC's chairman's circle, and MBEs Nathaniel R. Goldston III, chair and CEO of Gourmet Services, Inc (Atlanta, GA), and Shahid Khan, president of Flex-N-Gate Corp (Urbana, IL).
Among the happy attendees at the awards celebration were Diversity/Careers' Jordan Weiss and Gail Goldstein, who snapped many of the photos on this page.
