NJIT honors scholarship donors
All three Renard Communications scholars came to say “thank you.”
Each spring, the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) invites scholarship donors to meet the students they’ve supported during the school year. This year, Diversity/Careers’ publisher, advertising sales director and business manager attended.
In 2004, Renard Communications, the magazine’s parent company, established an endowed scholarship fund for NJIT’s Albert Dorman Honors College. The fund supports several diverse students in technical majors each year.
The Renard scholars for 2013 were David Ju, who graduated this spring with a degree in mechanical engineering and an applied mathematics minor; Maya Barreto, a third-year architecture major; and Lydia Paradiso, a second-year student in bioinformatics.
Honors College enriches student experience
The Albert Dorman Honors College enrolls top NJIT students in all majors. Honors College students are offered special courses and seminars, opportunities for co-ops and study abroad, and a variety of other enrichment experiences during their undergraduate years at NJIT. Many of the college’s programs focus on technology and entrepreneurship.
Roberta Renard, president of Renard Communications and publisher of Diversity/Careers, has been a member of the board of visitors of the Honors College since 2002. In 2010, the college established the Roberta Renard Student Council Office in Fenster Hall to serve members of the Albert Dorman Honors Council.
In 2012, NJIT named Renard Communications its Outstanding Corporate Partner in recognition of the company’s years of support of the Honors College and its students.
